In some states restaurant patrons are now permitted to take home a partially consumed bottle of wine. In the past, transporting an open container of alcohol in your car would be a DMV violation. Diners who like more expensive wines would either waste what was left or worse, guzzle it down and then drive home. The new laws stipulate that an opened bott;ecan now be re-corked and placed in a clear tamperproof bag and legally be transported home.
